“Humph.”

Kendra stared at the letter. Yes, a letter. In the information age. Whatever. It was supposed to be symbolic anyways.
A single line sat at the top of the page. A single line consisting of a single word.
Dragon. A name of an old companion. An old-old friend. One she hadn’t spoken with in…geez…it had to be atleast a year. Maybe more.

Dear ‘Dragon’… Kendra frowned. Be honest. She had to be honest.

Dear Dragon…I’m not going to say ‘hi again, this time things will be different’. I’ve said that so many times that even I wouldn’t believe me if I said it again. I used to do that a lot.

The witch sighed, shaking her head, the silver locks spilling into her vision. Maybe she should invest in a hairband.
Re-adjusting the offending strands, she continued.
Look…I was young. I was stupid. Immature. Busy. Emotional. Honestly, I’m still young, stupid, immature, and emotional…but much less so then I used to be. Things have changed. I’ve changed. And the new me feels….ashamed. Ashamed of the way I neglected you.

The thing is…you’re a pretty amazing guy, and possibly the most amazing TG-writer I know of, not just because of the quality of your work, but because of the messages you ingrain your works with. There’s a purpose behind them, beyond a simple fetish.  And that is…well, amazing.

The witch paused. This was flowing now. All just coming out of her fingertips like drops from…a faucet. Meh. The analogy worked.

I want to see if I can’t try again, at being your friend. But it doesn’t feel like I can do that with just an apology letter. You deserve better.

“So I wrote you a story.” She smiled, a light gathering in her palm. “In my new style. The one I’ve grown into. The one that feels natural.” She glanced at the clock. Yep. 3:23. Why did all her inspiration come when she was supposed to be asleep? Heck, she still had to finish her Creative Release contest entry thing. (This made a good warm-up though.)

Kendra placed her glowing palm against a blank spot on the page, the imprint of her hand forming in a darkened burn mark. Nothing much. Just a small present. A simple spell she’d prepared that would activate upon the letter’s opening, forcing the intended recipient to undergo a metamorphosis, into that of a kitsune. A kitsune with particularly developed teleportation and telepathy powers. Afterall, she wanted to make getting in contact with her particularly easy.

Here’s hoping this is received well. Looking forward to hearing from your.
Signed,
Juliette “Kendra” Thomson

Kendra stood up, folding her letter into thirds and sliding it inside the teal green envelope she’d laid out earlier.
Pinching it between her front two fingers, Kendra’s eyes shut themselves, darkness circling her consciousness as she concentrated. “Find him.” She breathed. “Simple as that. Find him.”
The paper shined with a golden light, the witch squinting against the ever brightening light. “Find him.” She repeated.

In an instant, the paper blinked out, and it was gone.
Kendra’s eyes opened. Glowing was gone. Letter was gone. Presumably to its intended recipient. She sat down in her chair, breath escaping her lips in an overly-emphasized sigh. “Here’s hoping this works…” She said, her cyan-colored gaze traveling to the ceiling. “Its about bedtime…”
Something dedicaited to :dragon8writer:. Kind of...spontaneous. :P My head decided it was a good idea. Now bedtime.
